Whalley, Wiswell and Barrow Cemetery is in a beautiful secluded spot on Clitheroe Road between Whalley and Barrow.
It is jointly owned by Whalley, Wiswell and Barrow Parish Councils and managed by a committee made up of councillors from all parishes. Councillors Jean Brown and Stuart McGregor represent Barrow Parish Council on this board. The day-to-day administration is carried out by the Registrar, Lynne Olesinski and she can be contacted during office hours on 01254 722811.
You don’t need to have a friend or relative there to visit the cemetery, it is a lovely area for a quiet walk or to just sit and contemplate. There are no restrictions on visiting times but the committee requests that children are accompanied and dogs are kept on a lead.
There are two distinct areas of the cemetery, one side for the Roman Catholic faith and the other for Church of England and other faiths. Work has been carried out to provide an additional woodland ashes burial area and to create a circular walk around the grounds. The cemetery also operates a scheme where people can adopt a tree and erect a memorial beneath.
As a parish council owned cemetery, residents of Whalley, Wiswell and Barrow are entitled to a 25% discount on internment fees. Enquires should be made through your appointed funeral director.
